10 Tips to a Cleaner and Organized Home
10 Tips And Tricks For Cleaning Your Home
Does it seem that you just cleaned your home or got it cleaned professionally and it seems dirty or unorganized again? Do you feel like things just don’t look right all the time or you constantly have a list of things to do?
Here our top ten tips to getting your home looking and staying good until your next cleaning!
1. Make Your Bed
It might seem like a mundane task, but making your bed not only improves the look of your home, it also improves your mental health. Studies have shown that people who make their beds feel more satisfied with their lives.
On top of that, making your bed will instantly make your room look put together and you will come home to a nice bed that you want to climb into at the end of the day. That’s why, here at Maid Bright, we recommend making your bed every single day.
2. Take Off Your Shoes
Taking off your shoes at home will help your floors and carpets stay cleaner. You’ll avoid trekking in dirt, mud and harmful bacteria from the outdoors. Let your feet and shoes breathe!
3. Pick Things Up
Do you find yourself always leaving a glass or bowl on the coffee table? Throughout the week these items can accumulate making the house look cluttered. Before leaving the room, clear these items from the coffee table, counter, or sideboard and put it away.
4. Clean As You Go
Do you love to cook, but leave a mess on every countertop and pile the dishes? An easy solution to this problem is to wipe the countertops and wash pots/pan as soon as you finish with them. This way, the dishes will not pile up.
5. Clean A Little Every Day
In high traffic areas like the kitchen and bathrooms, it would be helpful to wipe down the sinks and countertops and to put things back where they belong. You can also sweep up the floors after breakfast so that crumbs do not accumulate. Make sure to load your dishwasher and avoid the dishes sitting in the sink.
6. Use Essential Oils
Our homes can sometimes take on the scent of the foods we enjoy and cook, or the bathrooms can get some not so fresh odors! Using a diffuser with essential oils in scents you enjoy can have our homes smelling as fresh as can be!
7. Put Things Away
Did you change for the 10th time this morning and couldn’t decide on what to wear? Make sure to put the other gazillion items you threw on the floor back into their place before leaving for the day. You will be much happier in the evening when things are nicely placed.
8. Clean Your Sink At Night
How many times have you gone to bed and your kitchen and sink is a mess? Hopefully, by loading the dishwasher and wiping down the sink your morning routine will be much smoother. It will help making breakfast much easier with clean dishes and a clean sink.
9. Check Your Mailbox
Make it a habit of checking your mailbox daily and sorting the mail. This will make paying the bills and responding to correspondence easier. Your mailbox will also have more space for larger packages if you receive them.
10. Set Time For Your Laundry
Make a laundry schedule each week and stick with it. Mondays for white/dark laundry, Tuesdays for towels, Wednesdays for linens, etc. Fold and put away the laundry as soon as it is dry to avoid the basket lingering around for days.
Following these tips and implementing them routinely will ensure that your home looks its best at all times and that you feel less overwhelmed with accumulating things to do!
