How to Clean OLED Electronic Screens
Your electronic screens get dirty due to germs, dust, grease, and fingerprints. Cleaning them often is essential for protecting yourself from getting sick, improving visibility, and extending your electronics' life spans.
How to Clean OLED TV, Phone, and Laptop Screens
While home cleaners like Windex were safe on old-generation TVs with glass panels, you shouldn’t use them to clean modern electronic screens because they contain harsh chemicals that can damage a device’s display. For example, the ammonia in Windex will discolor the display and give it a hazy appearance.
Let’s take a look at how to clean OLED screens.
How to Clean Your TV Screen
Get a dry microfiber rag, distilled water, and white vinegar. The ratio of water to white vinegar should be the same. Once you have these supplies, cleaning your OLED TV screen should be easy.
Here’s how to go about it:
- Turn the TV off.
- Spray the water and vinegar solution on the microfiber rag.
- Gently wipe the screen using an S pattern.
- Wait for the screen to air dry, then plug it in to check for smudges.
Use the same steps when cleaning LCD screens and LED and plasma TVs.
How to Clean Your Phone Screen
You’ll need vinegar, distilled water, and a dry microfiber cloth to clean your phone screen.
Here’s what you should do:
- Turn off your phone.
- Unplug it if it is charging.
- Remove the phone case.
- Spray the vinegar and distilled water solution directly to the microfiber rag.
- Delicately wipe the front and back of the phone and leave it to dry.
- Next, clean the phone case inside and outside and let it air dry.
- Once the two are completely dry, place the case back on your phone and turn your device on.
How to Clean Your Laptop Screen
To clean your laptop screen, use a vinegar and distilled water solution. You’ll also need a dry microfiber cloth. Once you’ve gathered these items, clean your laptop screen as follows:
- Unplug the computer if it’s charging.
- Shut it down.
- Spritz the distilled water and vinegar mixture directly on the microfiber cloth.
- Gently wipe the laptop screen using an S pattern.
- Leave it to dry.
- Once the screen is fully dry, turn it back on.
