A New Year, A time to refresh your home!

Happy New Year From Maid Bright!
The holidays have finally come to an end; the festive décor is carefully put away in storage and visiting family has returned to their homes to carry on with their routines. As joyful as the holiday season is with all of the decorations and trimmings, it is a great feeling to have your home back in order, clean and spacious. Winter is also upon us in full force in the Metro area and seeing the glistening white snow makes everything look magical outside. That being said, our homes can use a refresh from the holiday season so that you can be comfortable and cozy this winter. Here are our suggestions for that fresh start to the New Year!
PUT AWAY HOLIDAY DÉCOR
If you haven’t already done so, put away any trees, decorations and trimmings. Neatly organize these items into containers with labels to make it easier to decorate the house the following year. Store these items into the garage or storage room for easy access.
DEEP CLEAN YOUR HOME
Having holiday guests, dinner parties and busy schedules can drastically build up dirt, grime and dust in your home making it hard to keep up with daily cleaning during the holiday season. It is a good idea to gather items you need to do a good deep clean, or enlist in the help of a professional cleaning company to really get the house in tip-top shape. Another way to refresh your home is to wash all of the linens, duvet covers and comforters. It might also be beneficial to stock up on some new linens, candles, home scents and toiletries to freshen up your spaces.
ORGANIZE, DECLUTTER, DONATE
I think one of the best ways to refresh your home is to organize, declutter and donate unused or lightly used items. This step makes it easier to do a deep clean of your home or keep up with the daily cleaning. Investing in bins and storage items will be helpful in sorting items or clothing and shoes especially after the holidays when you have new items to store. Any personal items that have not been used in a year should be trashed or donated. The same rule applies to clothing, shoes, make-up products, spices and other pantry items. The new Netflix show Tidying Up with Marie Kondo is a good watch for those that want some order to their lives!
GREEN YOUR SPACE
The winter months can be difficult because of the lack of sunshine outside and it may make you feel slightly less energetic and happy, but adding some green plants in your home can instantly freshen up a space and bring more color to a room. Furthermore, plants can help with adding moisture in the dry winter months. You can buy some green plants and colorful planters from Home Depot, Home Goods or TJ Maxx. With careful attention and dedication, your home will look fresh in no time. It will help you to feel reset and energetic to tackle the new year!
